Clean affordable
drinking water
Majicom designs and deploys solar powered water kiosks on university and school sites in East Africa. Each system reduces water costs by at least 50% for users.
Each water kiosk purifies water using filtration and UV technology ensuring the water is safe to drink.
The water is stored and automatically dispensed to users who pay via mobile money (Mpesa) or a key fob.
Each kiosk is capable of providing over 250L per day and runs from off-grid from a small solar panel.
Majicom kiosks provide a cleaner, safer alternative to untreated tap water, and a more affordable alternative to bottled water. Each system takes locally available water and treats it using filtration and UV purification, helping deliver safe drinking water where tap water quality may be unreliable.
At less than half the price of bottled water, Majicom makes clean drinking water more accessible for everyday users. By encouraging people to refill reusable bottles, our kiosks also reduce reliance on single-use plastics.
Powered by low-energy electronics and solar panels, they are simple to install, efficient to run, and designed to provide consistent water quality in challenging environments.
“We are incredibly proud to host Majicom water kiosks on our campus. The system provides an affordable drinking water source to our students and staff whilst reducing our environmental impact”

Built for Local Ownership
Re-purposed Solar Systems
Majicom kiosks use a dedicated electronics stack and integrated sensors to automate key functions and collect live system data. This helps us monitor performance, track usage, and improve reliability across every deployment.
Local Manufacture
Majicom systems are designed for local manufacture using robust composite materials that can be produced without complex machinery. This approach reduces reliance on expensive imported systems and allows water infrastructure to be manufactured closer to the communities it serves.
On the Ground Support
Our local teams of skilled engineers and operators are able to support kiosk deployments rapidly. This ensures faster installation, smoother operations, and dependable support for every site we serve.
Tested and Validated
Photocatalytic Reactors
Through our own research and strategic collaborations we have developed a range of purification tools that utilize photocatalytic materials. These systems purify water by harnessing sunlight to drive a chemical reaction that purifies water.
Low Power UV
Through partnerships with Crystal IS we have integrated low-cost and ultra-low-power UV disinfection systems that use the latest in LED technology. These novel reactors can remove a host of bacteria and run from a solar panel.
Low-Pressure Filtration
We work with various innovative companies that develop low-pressure filtration. These systems are capable of removing chemicals, particles, and bacteria from water and don’t require high-pressure (and power) pumps.
